Bourne Ultimatum

Jason Bourne Rocks!!! Man just got home form Bourne Ultimatum (haven’t actually seen 1 or 2 yet, but will do so pronto) and wow am still running high on adrenalin. The first 15 minutes of the film my heart was doing serious palpitations – I could feel it thumping away and hear it almost over the movie. I need to do some yoga or something to calm down. Great movie.

Day was good – uploaded some photos, did more admin, we’re getting more of a system going and David is assisting me which is an enormous help!

Now… just to exchange on our flat (not yet….. hopefully fingers toes and eyes crossed tomorrow), & get the wedding save the dates out and we’ve got a few big ticks off our ever growing list of to dos… I bought a bulletin board, a white board, and more filing trays today. I’m finding that I am losing track of things so hopefully this will make it all work a little more efficiently. Irmgard – I need you!

Meanwhile tomorrow we are hooking up with brother Gordon & Lukola for brunch (which david always seems to interpret as a normal lunch. It’s not. It’s brunch. There must be something with eggs on offer, or breakfast type dishes to count as brunch…) which will be a treat. The last time I saw Jeff was at Megan’s – I had just come back from the Dog Show (checking out pugs, pre Deuce) and had bought a bunch of toys in preparation. In fact, it was at the show that I bought Squirrelly, Deuce’s favourite chew toy. I’ve had to amputate his leg, (Squirrelly, not Deuce) and still Deuce show’s no sign of a slackening of his love for this little beast.

Anyways, this was brother Gordon last, with the darling Phia.

I think Jeffrey looks stunned from his hugging mugging (he got mugged in Soho when a man hugged him).

U say toemawtow, I say toemaydoe

I ate one of them yesterday- the tiny red one. It was absolutely delicious-tomato-ey of cousre, but it also had a weird undercurrent of berry- strawberry? It was yummy, but I only had the one that was ripe.

Arianne and Jane asked about how I'm growing them- i'm not doing anything special (am amazed they are not dead- my last office plants turned into rotting onions. Bleh). They sit in my office window which is south facing so they get plenty off light. They also drink like alchies- they go through loads of water. I need to repot them (sorry Frank!! I am torturing the poor things) as they are still in their wee pots. I think once they are repotted they should be much happier. And less prone to falling over when they get dry. Oh they also have some baby bio in them for nutrients. Thinking back, the light must have lots to do with it- they weren't so happy in our flat which only gets afternoon sun.

Quickie

I cannot believe how quickly time flies. Let’s see – thurs/fri were rather uneventful, david worked late, I worked late, really really happy for the weekend to have arrived. Spent Saturday sorting out inventory, and going to pick up gorgeous soft Casbah – this stuff is amazing. Arianne had said it was DaBomb! (ok not quite like that, but that it was amazing) and well, it is. I thought Smooshy was soft. This stuff – wow. Anways, so I was doing inventory and figuring out what was where. David was working again, I had saturday to myself and got lots done. The house looks less like a tornado hit it and I managed to somewhat organise my paperwork. Saturday evening was a nice night out to celebrate Barb and Melissa’s bdays – we left relatively early as Davdi had a very early morning for a bike race (5 am start!). I had been looking forward to sleeping in but twas not to be! Got up getting up at 8 and going to Battersea Park with Deuce and Max to celebrate Max’s 2nd bday. I couldn’t face doing any more work so decided to take a break and just chill on Sunday. I sort of pottered around, finally cleaned out my closet, and generally hung out with Deuce. David had a bad day – got up so early for this crazy 160k race, but ended up blowing a tire and having to bow out since he didn’t have a spare tire. Went to bed at the luxurious time of 930 pm Sunday night.

Ended up staying home today (dodgy dinner on Sunday night) and again took it easy and did some admin when I could. We had the buyers’ people come round today – two letting agents to value it and the buyer himself to meaure the walls or something for their stuff – hopefully we will be exchanging this week. Must be clenching my teeth something fierce the past few days as have awoken to very sore jaw – Saturday morning I could barely chew my breakfast. I clench and grind my teeth so I guess have been doing that a fair bit. Anyways, will be good to get this over and done with. In the future I think they should ban the house buying process totally. It should be either wiped from memory or totally automated.

Oh – the good thing about staying home today was that I was home for Koigu. Yes – she has finally arrived. Woweee!!

Poor david still at work now. Me am off to bed!

I’m on!!! But I can’t get in!!!

They have disabled Ravelry at work. I guess they cottoned on! Came home to this: “Your invitation was sent on Today. We just sent you a new copy of the email (from invitations@ravelry.com) in case it was lost or eaten by a spam filter.” exepct… well, there is no email for me! waaah. Oh! Fixed – i had inactived the email address used for ravelry. Silly!!!

Anyways. Holy moly pecan pie. That thing is amazing. It is like stumbling into a cave with a pretty lagoon just chocka with sparkling pirate booty…. or knitting swag!

I am a bad spoilee!

I cannot believe I have not thanked Purlfish, my mysterious travelled erudite Secret Pal for this box of loveliness. I previously received a postcard dangling tantalising hints… Hollywood – American Asian perhaps?? and then a box in the post from Crown Mountain Farms – home of lovely Sock Hop handspun yarn… and painted fibre! I’d be dying to try this stuff (in fact I wanted it so much I wanted to stock it!), and I got the box just as we left for holiday. I meant to write, but then so much took over I clean forgot to do it.

The box opened to reveal a carefully wrapped package, with a note saying it was from my Secret Pal. The package was stamped ‘certified work of art’. Mustang Sally, you say?

And here she is revealed! This will spin up into something just beautiful. And there is alot of it there!!! Socks and matching cap? 🙂 Thank you so much Purlfish. This is beautiful!!! And I am very remiss in not thanking you properly!

The same day, I also received this box from Angela of A Swell Yarn Shop:

It too was put to one side as I rushed to get packed and ready to go.
This was inside:

Which opened to reveal some goodies:

It was a teaser for the main package… which arrived today!!!

A little teaser for you….. this is sock yarn, probably duet sock yarn, Angela’s speciality. I have not yet opened it…..

Launch Day

Aiya. So busy, but so much fun.

As Melissa predicted, it did all come together this week. Socktopus launched last night to much fanfare and friendly hubub (check out my post with piccies on the Socktopus blog here). David was a great cohost, and Barb went above and beyond in helping (including showing up on time, which is not something I can say about myself!). Poor Matt & Julie made it all the way to Notting Hill but I didn’t pay enough attention to my phone and they could not get to us! I hope at least they had a nice drink somewhere so it wasn’t a totally wasted trip.

We also exchanged on our place – FINALLY. My god. What a palaver. First threats that the seller was going to pull out, then the seller’s solicitor goes awol for half the day. Sheesh. But it’s all signed and done. Now for the next exchange, on our place! Nerve wracking or what. I couldn’t do this again for a very long time.

The Socktopus site is up and running, in a fashion. The HSBC payment gateway isn’t yet connected due to some glitch, but hopefully this will be sorted tomorrow. If not, may just get paypal and be done with it.

And now – to bed. G’night y’all!
